Mission Hills (7-3-1) at (3) Poway (7-3): Titans seek sixth straight win. Nick Ricciardulli has set a Poway season record with 1,736 yards rushing. Two-way standout Eddie Nuckols (6-3, 295) leads Grizzlies.
Fallbrook (5-6) at (2) Escondido (8-2): Section rushing leader Ricky Seale (2,090 yards) helps Cougars average 38.2 points a game. Hard-nosed Jake Ware is a mainstay on both sides of the ball for the Warriors.
DIVISION II
Lincoln (6-5) at (1) Oceanside (9-0-1): Closing the regular season with a 33-33 tie at Ramona, the Pirates, undefeated in 22 starts, are eager to re-establish themselves. Lincoln has been an offensive juggernaut.
Westview (9-2) at (4) Scripps Ranch (7-3): Robert Forcier of Scripps Ranch (2,990 yards, 21 TDs) and Tommy Hansen of Westview (2,703 yards, 25 TDs) are the section's top two passers. This could be the Marathon Bowl.
Grossmont (5-6) at (3) Helix (8-1-1): The Foothillers have beaten the Highlanders once in the past 29 years. In 2004, Helix edged Grossmont 23-17 in the Division II semifinals on a rainy night in double overtime.
Patrick Henry (7-4) at (2) Eastlake (8-2): It's been a banner year for the formerly doormat Patriots, but Eastlake – winner of seven in a row – has too many weapons to allow Henry's happy days to continue.
DIVISION III
Point Loma (6-4-1) at (1) Cathedral Catholic (10-0): Dons' Tyler Gaffney (252 points) is closing in on the section scoring record of 276 points by Brawley's Zay Shepherd. Dons won 42-10 in the regular season.
El Capitan (8-3) vs. (4) St. Augustine (6-4) at Southwestern College: El Capitan's Tanner Rust and St. Augustine's Evan Crower will flood the sky with passes. Saints won 51-43 in the 2006 Division III semis.
Serra (8-3) at (3) Valhalla (9-1): The Conquistadors eliminated Monte Vista on a late field goal but will need more than nine points to remain alive. QB Pete Thomas and RB Traivonne Brown are Valhalla's main threats.
Steele Canyon (6-5) at (2) Ramona (8-1-1): Joey Dambrose of Ramona and Steele Canyon's Alex Perlin provide battle of quality running backs. Senior quarterback Ian Hunt gives Bulldogs' offense an edge.
DIVISION IV
Imperial (9-1) at (1) Valley Center (8-2): Tigers have six shutouts in a row and seven for the season, tied for third-most in section history. Defending champion Jaguars are averaging 35.6 a game.
Coronado (8-2) at (4) Santa Fe Christian (6-4), 1:30: Quarterback Mason Mills leads the Islanders, who lost to the Eagles 30-20 during the regular season. SFC offense remains a wing-T prototype.
Mission Bay (5-4-1) at (3) Mater Dei Catholic (5-5): Dillon Baxter and the Bucs have won three of their past four. Crusaders closed the regular season with three straight wins.
La Jolla (4-6) at (2) Madison (10-0): Fresno State-bound running back Robbie Rouse makes Madison a bona fide challenger for a berth in the final. The Vikings staggered into the playoffs, losing three of their last four.
DIVISION V
Calvin Christian (9-1) at (1) Francis Parker (9-1): Lancers junior quarterback Deon Randall ranks among the section's top offensive threats. That isn't good news for Calvin Christian.
La Jolla Country Day (8-3) vs. (4) Army-Navy (8-2) at El Camino High: Averaging more than 37 points per game, the Torreys hope to avenge a 27-21 regular-season loss to Pacific League champion Army-Navy.
Bishop's (5-6) vs. (3) Horizon (5-4-1) at San Diego High: RB Christian Johnson spearheads the Panthers, who belted Bishop's 42-18 in Coastal League play. Bishop's snapped a four-game losing streak last week.
Foothills Christian (10-1) vs. (2) Christian (9-1) at Granite Hills High: Christian RB Charles Thompson and Co. provide a daunting challenge for versatile Garret Campbell and the young Knights.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Joey Dambrose, RB, Ramona: More than 800 yards rushing.
Pete Thomas, QB, Valhalla: Has passed for 2,496 yards, 25 TDs.
Taimi Tutogi, RB, Chula Vista: History of big plays for Spartans.
Leslie Rogers, RB, Point Loma: Has scored 20 TDs for the Pointers.
TRENDS TO TRACK
Rested: Tonight's host teams in Division I, Division II, Division III and Division V had byes last week. All teams in Division IV had a bye. In last season's quarterfinals, teams coming off a bye went 12-4 against teams that had played the previous week.
Familiar faces: All of last year's section champions in action tonight – Poway, Oceanside, Cathedral Catholic, Valley Center and Bishop's.
